Statement on Environmental, Social + Governance

What sustainability means to Marprop

Marprop's active ESG approach seeks to deliver social, commercial, and environmental benefits to our stakeholders and the wider community. Our property assets play a vital role in helping our stakeholders achieve their environmental objectives and commitments.

Our assets reduce environmental impact while inspiring, motivating, and energising tenants, increasing their health, well-being, and productivity. Collectively with our stakeholders, we can set a new benchmark for Australia’s commercial space by enhancing business productivity while minimising our operational impacts on the environment, while at the same time delivering on our purpose to ensure all our tenant customers and stakeholders “ feel better about coming to work”.

Net Zero by 2035

Marprop is on a journey, aiming to achieve Net Zero by 2035. We are implementing initiatives based on the UN Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI) which works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors; and also to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.

Net Zero often refers to the equilibrium between the amount of greenhouse gas generated and the quantity efficiently removed from the atmosphere. It's essentially the point when what we contribute to the atmosphere matches what we take from it, effectively balancing the greenhouse gas scales.

In collaboration with our Institutional Partners in Germany, we've established a set of targets that our commercial office buildings are intended to meet.

Helping our tenants achieve their sustainability goals

Sustainability, including health and wellbeing, is important for our stakeholders, especially our tenants and investment partners. Our goal to meet and exceed global ESG standards across our portfolio is reflected in the investments that we make in optimising our properties, supporting our stakeholders in achieving their vision of creating efficiencies while achieving their environmental commitments.

Our tenants have access to “Beyond Grade” facilities, with some including End of Trip facilities such as bike storage, showers and towel services to encourage people to take alternate modes of transport to work – improving the physical and mental health of the workforce and increasing the enjoyment of coming to work. Our locations are positioned near public transport and green spaces, improving wellbeing and promoting healthy lifestyles, social interactions, fulfilment, and flexibility.

Social responsibility

The way we and other corporates do business impacts not just the environment but also society at large.  We strive to achieve a sensible balance between maximising benefits for our stakeholders, whilst at the same time minimising our impact on the environment.  Marprop encourages and supports ongoing education for its team, supports Australian charitable organisations financially, and is actively involved in industry bodies and other charitable activities.

Making a difference

Marprop are proud to be a corporate partner with Two Good Co, helping make a difference to women’s lives.

With a vision to demonstrate love and respect, social enterprise, Two Good Co employs vulnerable women to create beautiful gifts and food, giving them a pathway out of living in crisis.

Employment is where Two Good Co creates the greatest social impact. Their Work Work paid employment program bridges a ‘love and skills’ gap in the marketplace, empowering vulnerable women to re-establish their self-belief and independence.

Marprop is supporting this important initiative by introducing Two Good Co washroom consumables across our buildings around Australia, using their beautiful products as gifts to our customers and partners, and enjoying their catering when we host boardroom lunches.

Head to the Two Good Co website to learn more about their impact.

Walking the talk

We don’t have all the answers and we are at the beginning of our journey, but we are taking steps to measure, monitor and improve the impact of our own business and how we do business.

We demonstrate transparency on all fronts and keep communication open and honest. To achieve this, we annually survey all our building tenants and encourage open two-way communication to recognise opportunities and continuously improve our operations.
